Saturday May 12, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., join the State College bikers, and the PAIPL Circuit Riders from the three county area at Detwiler Park, see the attached flyer for details. We’ll celebrate the ministry of habitat restoration at Detwiler and four other locations involving over 100 volunteers and at least 1000 hours of their labor. We’ll do some removal of invasive plants so bring clippers. Also bring extra shoes and socks to lend to the bikers so they can change out of their bike shoes.

We’ll get a short tour of the beautiful nature trail along Standing Stone Creek by Celina Seftas from Blair County Conservation district. Wildflowers were still blooming when I visited on Monday.and we might also see eagles, osprey, snapping turtles and frogs.

Finally, our fearless leader Greg Williams will be celebrating successful surgery on his left wrist that hebroke 2 weeks ago. But I’ll be be especially lifting up the work of 21 tree planters whose work enabled us to plant nearly 350 bare root native trees along the Lower Trail over the past 2 months with 100 more still to plant next week. What a great team !

Please join us.

STATE COLLEGE – double launch #EachGeneration and Central PA IPL Circuit Riders

PA IPL supporters in Centre, Huntingdon, and Blair Counties are joining forces to get to know one another, encourage one another, pray together,  learn of the activities of PA IPL, build community, and make common cause around caring for our Common Home and all who inhabit it.  We’re calling it the Central PA IPL Circuit Riders, as we’ll rotate amongst faith communities and institutions, so everyone gets a chance to see new places and people… and the chance to share familiar ones.

Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light (PA IPL) invites you to the first monthly meeting of  the Central PA IPL Circuit Riders. on Tuesday evening, January 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for a presentation on the Justice for #EachGeneration  initiative — an inter-religious effort launched by the United Church of Christ Council for Climate Justice to support the 21 young people — including several with Pennsylvania ties — who are currently suing the federal government, seeking accountability and action for the damage done to our climate.  READ MORE, link to supports, see a video, and get a one-pager.

The evening’s presentation will be one of what is hoped to be 1,000 Sermons  preached or presentations given in support of these 10-21 year olds before the hoped for February 5 hearing of the case in U.S. District Court of Oregon…. we hope it will give you ideas and inspire you to create a sermon or study opportunity in your own faith community.  We’d love to share it here on our website, where it can go on to inspire others!   We’ll have some resources to share.

Find us in the Peace Room at Trinity Lutheran Church in State College.  It is not hard to find — just bear to your left after coming in the main entrance. Directions.

Want to help host (or organize) a future Central PA IPL Circuit Riders event?  Let Greg Williams know!

A Call for Sermons in Solidarity with Youth Seeking Justice

Ultimately, the case brought by the youth is about seeking justice for #EachGeneration. To further the compelling and inspiring efforts of the youth, a range of faith organizations have initiated a call for more than a thousand sermons to be preached in solidarity with them. To pledge a commitment to deliver a sermon, visit Youth are especially encouraged to preach.
