Protecting Creation: A Jewish Response to Climate Change

Jewish tradition teaches us to protect the Earth for future generations.  As Jews, we are obligated to depen our commitment to stewardship and protecting the Earth through outreach, activism, and Jewish learning.  Our speakers will discuss the politics, science, national security concerns, and social implications of climate change.

The Please Touch museum will be leading fun, interactive environmental ecucation sessions for children in grades K-5 parallel to the Speaker Panel.

Speaker Panel:

  • Rabbi Nina Beth Cardin
    Rabbi Cardin is the director of the Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network (BJEN) at he Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center.  She has also served as general consultant to the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life.
  • Rear Admiral David W. Titley, United States Navy (Retired)
    Dr. Titely is a nationally known expert in the field of climate, the Arctic, and national security, and is Founding Director of the Center for Solutions to Weather and Climate Risk at Penn State University.
  • Dr. Jalonne L. White-Newsome
    Dr. White-Newsome is a Federal Policy Analyst for WE ACT for Environmental Justice.  She coordinates the ntioal Environmental Justice Leadership Forum on climate Change as well as co-chairing the Urban Air Toxins Workgroup for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Act Advisory Committee.
