The ceiling will open at 7 pm

The skyspaceSkyspace at Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting is an installation designed by light artist James Turrell.

At sunset, a section of the roof of the meetinghouse will slide open for a “Greet the Light” program, a meditative and prayerful experience of the wonder of light — both natural and human-inspired. If the weather has other plans, there will be an alternative light show,

Participants lie on their backs to view the light show. With the ceiling open to the March sky we recommend dressing warmly or bringing a blanket to be extra cozy.  You can also bring a yoga mat if you have one.

Acoustic Blender will jazz up the place

Starting at 8 pm, the party will move into the social room and will include the music of Acoustic Blender, as well as some great desserts, while we celebrate the amazing work that PA IPL is doing to combat climate change and care for our planet.

We’ll join international Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30

eiffel towersAt 8:30 pm the party will continue in the glow of solar lanterns when the electricity goes off to mark the ninth annual international Earth Hour.

Originated by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour is a world-wide movement  in which  individuals, communities and businesses throughout the world are invited to turn off their non-essential lights on the same day from 8:30 pm to 9:30 as a sign of commitment to the planet.

Bring your own light alternative (no candles, though) to add to the ambiance. High-level donors can take home a solar powered lantern, while supplies last.
