Faith to Ford

Central PA team of faith leaders welcomed for conversation with State College Ford owner John Morris.

A group of faith leaders recently made a visit to State College Ford, where they were welcomed by dealership owner John Morris for conversation. They are pictured here with a scroll of signatures of people of faith, urging Ford to return to its original strong support of the Clean Cars standards, in alignment with Ford’s celebration of their greener dealerships.

Learn More about this effort, or check out a webinar for those wishing to get involved.

The article below was published in  the Morrisons Cove Herald  on January 17, 2019.

In sharing the article with John Morris, PA IPL Board President Greg Williams wrote:
“I wanted to thank you again for your hospitality in welcoming the group of folks from Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light to State College Ford in early December and listening to our concerns about Ford Motor Co.’s moves to roll back the Clean Car Standards. I was hoping that we might be able to get some positive press for you and finally got an article and picture published in the Morrisons Cove Herald of January 17, 2019.   The article is attached.

Other than getting the month of our visit wrong,  I was happy with the accuracy of what was printed. I  hope you feel the same way and I hope that readers who are concerned about the impact of automobile emissions on our environment and the increasing dangers of climate change, on the health of all who are suffering from degraded air quality, and the inordinate effects of these  problems on lower income front line communities, including the Morrisons Cove area appreciate your openness to meeting with us and perhaps bring their business to you.  I got the impression from your comments that we share concerns about the world our children and grandchildren will have to face.

Efforts to meet and talk with other Ford dealerships in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States will continue.  In fact, I’ll be part of a Webinar designed for members of Interfaith Power and Light, United Methodist Women, and United Church of Christ on how to voice our concerns to Ford dealerships. I will be delighted to share the positive experience we had in our visit to State College Ford.

Thanks again. Hope all is well with you and your family.”
