4th annual gathering on Preaching and Speaking About Climate Change
February 3, 2015 @ 8:30 AM - 10:00 AMFree
This year it’s breakfast! Tuesday, February 3rd, 8:30 a.m. in the parlor at Summit Presbyterian Church, 6757 Greene St., 19119. Doors open at 8:15. Download the flier: PhillyPreachersBreakfast.02.2015
Please do RSVP so we’ll know how many places to prepare, and include your email and phone so that we’ll know where to contact you in case of poor road/sidewalk conditions (It’s February. It’s happened before!).
The workshop is open to clergy and non-clergy alike. We’ll be doing a text study of the Exodus 23: 1-3, from the Torah portion for February 14th. Bring a favorite translation!
THE CONTEXT: Every year in mid-February (February 13/14/15 this year) national Interfaith Power and Lights encourages a “Preach-In” on climate change. We use this as an excuse to gather clergy and other interested folks together for fellowship, food, and a discussion about bringing climate change before the congregation. We’ll share resources, advocacy materials, and brainstorm and support one another.
Participating does not commit you to participating in the preach-in — it’s a chance to explore, study, and learn. Led by Rabbi Malkah Binah Klein and Rev. Cheryl Pyrch.
Thank you to Susan Saxe for catering breakfast.
NOTE: this year Interfaith Power & Light has joined with Our Voices to add a world-wide prayer at 12 noon on Valentine’s Day. Sign up to commit your prayer, and share the news in your congregation and networks.
