Board Member Profile: Behzad Zandieh

Behzad ZandiehThis Board member profile is one of a series. Board members are active PA IPL volunteers who live and serve across Pennsylvania. Behzad Zandieh has served on the board since Novmber 2012, and was re-elected in 2016.

Behzad Zandieh  lives in Harrisburg, PA studied geology and engineering at Western Kentucky University, and worked in these fields until he retired in 2013.

He is a member of the Baha’i Faith in Harrisburg, PA, and he believes in:

  • Baha’u’llah as the latest Chosen One from God with a mission to establish justice, unity, and peace among all people.
  • “The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.”
  • The teaching that we must be the custodians and stewards of the earth and safeguard the environment since the existence of everything on earth, including minerals, plants, animals, and humans depend on each other. Therefore, we must maintain the ecological balance of our home planet, Earth.

Behzad is deeply involved with the Interreligious Forum of Greater Harrisburg, and its objective to engender the feeling of trust, and understanding between and among diverse religions is near to his heart. He is also active with the Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Mayor’s Interfaith Advisory Council, and Religion and Society Forum of Harrisburg.

He represents the Baha’i community of Harrisburg in the Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light, and promotes stewardship of the earth in different faith communities.

He enjoys hiking, camping, and gardening.
